Who doesn’t like to travel? There’s multiple benefits to it: from knowing different cultures and traditions, to improving your physical and mental health. If that doesn't sound good enough, know there’s science backing off these facts. Good, huh?
Whether you’re an action-packed adventurer, or you live and breathe all inclusive resorts by the pool - travelling can be a really valuable part of your healthy lifestyle.
Keep reading to learn more about why taking a holiday is important to your well-being!
- Travelling keeps you active
Trust us, it feels much easier to get in your 10k daily steps on holiday than at home. When you’re visiting a new country, city or location - you might end up walking most of the day, and it doesn't even feel like exercise. Visiting museums and local points of interest, or just exploring a new place is a great way to get your daily step count up.
You may also find yourself doing our favourite activities such as surfing, hiking or even trying a new sport like snowboarding. Exercise can also feel less like a chore and more like fun when you are on holiday.
- A chance to reset
You deserve to take time off at least once a year, and they can give you that much needed chance to reset. When you have too much on your plate, you start developing some bad habits, such as: low energy, lack of sleep, unbalanced eating and even a cranky mood. You might not notice these habits at first, or they might feel overwhelming to rectify - but a holiday can provide us with the break and time to reassess our current situation.
If you sit at a desk for a living, a break from work, from the eye strain caused by your computer and the uncomfortable posture of your desk, is an excellent chance for your body to reset and recover. You don’t need to go to Europe to recover, just taking a few days off work and making time for yourself can do wonders to your mental health!
- Embracing the elements
For many of us avid travellers, a change in the weather is reason enough to go on holiday! We love to go for an adventure the minute the sun is out, but we understand not everyone is like us.
Thankfully, there’s science justifying and backing up our obsession with spending time in the sun (in moderation, of course). A healthy amount of sunshine gives your body a boost of vitamin D, which can promote strong bones and a more effective immune system and boost energy levels. Of course it is important to wear a high SPF sunscreen (it is a myth that sunscreen blocks vitamin D production), and sun protecting clothing - like our swim shorts, beach towels and surf ponchos ;)

There really is no better time to spend doing the things you love than being on holiday, either by yourself or with loved ones. Family holidays can help to reconnect and strengthen bonds. Alone time and solo travel can also be incredibly healing and provide an escape from a busy schedule. It’s a great time to enrich your mind, reset and focus on your mental wellbeing.
